I NEVER EVER WORE WATERPROOF MASCARA BUT NOT COS I EVER HEARD IT WAS BAD FOR UR LASHES I JUST DIDNT LIKE IT AS MUCH AS THE PLAIN ONE. IDK ABOUT SLEEPING WITH VASOLINE ON UR LASHES BUT VITAMIN E IS VERY GOOD SO U SHOULD GET THOSE WIPES WITH VITAMIN E IN THEM TO TAKE UR EYE MAKEUP OFF . I HAVE BEEN USING THEM & I LIKE THEM VERY MUCH COS ABOUT 2 MONTHS AGO I LOST ALOT OF MY EYELASHES & I PANICKED SO EVERYONE ON HERE SAID THEY WILL GROW BACK & SURE ENUF THEY DID BUT I USED THE VITMAN E TO HELP THEM & IT DID. ALSO NOW I DONT WEAR MASCARA EVERYDAY LIKE I USE TO ONLY WHEN I GO OUT OR C MY MAN & BELIEVE ME WHAT A DIFFERENCE COS NOW WHEN I DO WEAR MASCARA IT COMES OUT AWESOME !

the chemicals are harsher than the non-waterproof formulation so yeah, you tend to get weaker lashes or more falling out. Also the removal is a multiple step process (oil based remover to take it off, then you have to wash off the remover) which is more touching on the eye which is a sensitive area you really want to avoid rubbing at all costs.

Nothing in mascara itself ever harms your eyelashes, but how you use it can damage them. Never ever apply mascara & then curl them. Your lashes will definitely fall out that way. Use a gentle eye make-up remover or baby wipes at night to take off the mascara. Don’t stab yourself or anything like that with the wand, & you should be fine.

I don’t think its bad for your lashes. I use waterproof everyday. I take it off at night with Moister effective eye makeup remover lotion (Avon product). It comes off really easily & moisturizes too. I used to do the baby wipe thing til my dermatologist said it was really harsh because it has alcohol in it & b/c your having to rub your eyes. She’s actually the one that told me to try the makeup remover Lotion.
Hope I helped & GL!

No. I’ve been using waterproof mascara for years & my lashes are fine. Just be sure to remove at night before bed. That’s important no matter what type of mascara you use. You don’t even need to sleep with vaseline on your lashes, it doesn’t really do anything special for them. And try to go without any mascara or anything else on them for a day or two sometimes, the lashes, like everything else, need to breathe.

Since you are conditoning your eyelashes it is not bad for you. If you would sleep in it & take it off with like baby wipes it would be because both of these things would over time thin your eyelashes & make them weaker & start to fall off. You can wear it every day as long as you are continuing to use a makeup remover/Vaseline.
