I've been in alot of musicals so i understand exactly what your thinking. I've found that using lots of bronzer keeps me from looking washed out. A bolder, darker lip color helps too. Eyeliner & mascara are a great idea, just don't line around the entire eye. Remember, stage makeup is always overdone, just not obnoxious.

I'm guessing you're just looking for basic makeup, rather than a specific character look. It depends on how big the theater is; if it's very big, you'll need a bit more definition around your eyes.
Foundation (a bit darker than you usually wear), eye shadow, mascara, eyeliner, lipstick (not lip gloss), & definitely, definitely blush. Powder it all down.
Here's a description of basic application:http://www.essortment.com/all/applicatio…
