For mascara, I say you should start at the very root of your lashes & go up. It definitely helps separate lashes. Another tip I suggest is using a index card like this:http://x7a.xanga.com/86dd752459230128620…
so you won’t get mascara on your eyelids.
As for the eyeliner, you should make a tapered line across your eyelid. For example, you should start with a thin line at your inner corners & gradually make the line thicker. It’s easier to make lines with short strokes rather than a long stroke where it’s easier to mess up. If you want a fancy look, you should extend your lines at your outer corners to make a “cat’s eye” look.
The person who left your first comment is an *** hole. Just had to clear that up first.
As far as your eye make-up goes, I think than heavy liner on the bottom does make your eyes look smaller, so avoid doing that. Just enhance your eyes without overdoing it. I do my top liner kinda weird. Draw it on the base of your lashes. Like go from under your lashes as well as above. It makes your lashes look longer & darker. Basically just get the liner as close to the base of the lashes as possible. Liquid liner works really well for this because it goes on a lot better. Follow up with mascara.
like the saying goes less is always more, u make ur eyes look small by surrounding ur whole eye with mascara, try a lighter color & only half on the bottom lid.
Eyeliner: apply as you do then take a cotton bud & smudge in to create a perfect eyeliner look
mascara: when applying mascara zig zag the wand this will make sure all the lashes are getting coated
To get that ‘cats eye’ look, get a liquid eyeliner & start thin at the eyes corner & thicken as you go out. Take a little lift at the outside edge for a little ‘whip’. As far as mascara, make sure your wand is clean & not too gunky looking. Then again, lightly do the inside lashes & thicken out as you go. It creates a very dramatic, almost star like quality or look! Top it off with lightly lining the lower lid UNDER the bottom lash & lightly applying mascara to the lash. There is no better way to make your eyes look smaller then to apply liner to the inside of your lower eyelid. Good luck!
Tips for applying eyeliner could be tough since there are so many looks you can go for…
However, apply mascara first to your bottom lashes, trying to apply a little to the underside, if your brush isn’t too thick. then apply mascara to the base of your lashes, pulling up in a gentle zig-zag motion to reduce clumps. Also coat the top-side of upper lashes for fullness. If you want SUPER volume for special occasions, let the first coat dry, then apply a tiny bit of loose face powder to the upper lashes, & apply one more thin coat.
Mascara these days is thick enough that you only need one or two coats, not six or seven like back in the 70s. Follow with a lash comb to get rid of any clumps. Clumpy lashes look tacky & could cause irritation.
With eyeline, leave the rim off your eye lid alone, as if you fill it in it makes yours eye look small, just eyeline around your lash line. You can also use white eyeline in the rim of your eye if they are a bit red there.
If you don’t get what I mean… don’t do eyeliner right to your eyeball on the bottom lid, on the top it is ok.
And brush outwards when applying mascara instead of straight up as it will make your lashes look longer.
I always apply my eyeliner under my eyes & then above them, on the lid. Make sure you cover it all, so it is all black. I always curl my lashes & then apply the mascara, so it makes your eyes look more open & etc.

Apply eyeliner in the corners of your eyes just to render them almondlike & then apply mascara.

i don’t know about the eyeliner, but for mascara i usually kind of zig-zag the brush from side to side to stop it clumping…..it usually works!
